Specifically, LLLT works at the cell level. Human cells produce a chemical known as ATP ( adenosine tri-phosphate) to run the body and heal tissue. All of the activity in our bodies results from the use of ATP, just like gasoline powers a car. LLLT stimulates a microstructure within the cells called the mitochondria (nicknamed the “powerhouse” because it is where ATP is produced) to produce slightly higher amounts of ATP. With more ATP at the cell level the tissue heals faster, which results in faster relief.
